JDBC Driver for SQL Server 2005

Can any version of the SQL Server 2000 JDBC driver connect to SQL Server 2005 or do I have to install the new JDBC version 1.1 to connect to my 2005 instance?

Using the SQL Server 2000 JDBC driver to connect to SQL Server 2005 is not a supported scenario. We highly recommend using the SQL Server 2005 JDBC driver to leverage the new capabilities of SQL Server 2005.
