Job truncates text data type

I have a table with a text data type and when I run my sql manually,
everything works fine - the text column is completely filled with what
I need (it's html from a http post request via a stored procedure).
When I put the exact same SQL inside a job, and kick the job off (or
let the agent pick it up on the schedule), it truncates the text column
to a width of 498, rendering my later job steps useless b/c the
expected data isn't there.
Why would the job cutoff the text in this column?What is the syntax used in the proc? Are you issuing an update/insert
or a writetext/updatetext statement?

I need to grab the zip file on ftp server periodically,
and the zip file contains one text file, then I need to
insert the records into db, Iwould like to automate the
process. How can set it up?

Try using pkunzip and BCP IN utilities to perform this.

You can use wzunzip.exe (WinZip command-line) to unzip the file. You can use
ftp -s <filename> to script the ftp (or use something like www.webdrive.com to
make the ftp server look like an NT drive). You can use bcp.exe or bulk insert
or dts to insert the records.
Pull it all together with a few lines of batch file.

JOb running SSIS package

I have an issue when a job is scheduled to run a SSIS package. The package (exporte a table to a text file) runs fine from microsoft visual studio but when i create a job and run it, i get the following error:

[298] SQLServer Error: 15404, Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'VOLCANO\Administrator', error code 0x534. [SQLSTATE 42000] (ConnIsLoginSysAdmin)

Can you tell me what operating system you have? Windows 2000, Windows 2003?

|||i'm using windows 2003. I found out what was wrong, when I create the job i changed the owner to 'sa' instead and it now works fine. Thanks for your help anyway.
|||when i turn on the computer i get error messages about an open file? everything listed in the menu includes this axel but i canoot open it and I need to fix this error, it is preventing me from installing a camera. any help?

The cause of the JIT Debug I had was cause by my HP All in One Printer.

Since no one answered my problem I made a backup of all my files and rebuild my hard drive, formated like brand new. Reinstalled all my software and restore my files.

My PC is like brand new without problem. Hope this leads you to an idea of what is your next step.

Jioning Text fields together in SQL

Hi, I'm sure that this is probably a really easy question to most of you, but I seem to be spending ages on it as I am new to SQL. how do I add the carraige return char between joining two text fields ie.
a_blah.blah+CHAR(13)+b_blah.blah
Thanks for your help.That seems right, unless that is part of your result set, then you'll need an "AS" clause:

(table1.value1 + CHAR(13) + table2.value2) AS CombinedValue

Depending upon the datatype of value1 an value2, you need to CONVERT or CAST first.|||Thanks for the reply...

cfeltham, are those double quotes in your query? Replace them with single quotes and retry.|||The double quotes might be hosing things up. On a side note, you should check for NULL values when concatenating text strings, as the concatenation of a NULL value with a string value normally returns NULL (Unless you specifically change the CONCAT_NULL_YIELDS_NULL setting).

Jet ODBC Driver for Text files - Permissions Issue

Hi,
I have setup a linked server to a text file uing the MS Jet ODBC driver.
Users that are not sysadmins and local admins on the server that the file
resides get an Jet Initialize error message.
What are the permissions required for SQL Server users to gain access to
this file?

What happens if you run OPENDATASOURCE (See Books Online) against that
provider for the non-admin user account in Query Analyzer? You could also
enable trace flag 7300.
In Query Analyzer you would type something like:
DBCC TRACEON(7300)
go
SELECT * FROM OpenDataSource( 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0',...
Please provide exact error message.
